Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
- We collect what we need to run your account, send the emails you ask for, and understand how the site is used.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- You can unsubscribe from any email with one click, and you can ask us to access, correct or delete your data at any time.
SOG Capital (“we”, “us”) runs sogcap.com, a macro analysis and trading education site for traders in Ghana and across Africa. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Our Terms of Use also apply to your use of the site.
1. What we collect
- Account details. When you create an account we collect your email address and password. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and stored in a form we cannot read. If you sign in or sign up with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us. We never see your Google password. We use your Google name and email only to create and run your account. We do not access any other Google data, and we do not use it for advertising.
- Email list sign-ups. When you join our email list, we collect your email address, anything else you type into the form (such as a name or city), and which part of the site you signed up from.
- Messages and bookings. If you email us or message us on WhatsApp, for example to book a 1-on-1 session, we receive what you send, including your email address or phone number, and use it to reply.
- Usage information. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are (country and city), what device and browser they use, how they reached the site, and which buttons or forms they use. This relies on cookies or similar identifiers.
- Live visitor counter. To show how many people are on the site, your browser tab is given a random session code that we store with the page you are on. It is not linked to your name or email.
- Technical logs. Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and timestamps, for security and reliability.
We do not collect card or payment details on this site. Paid 1-on-1 sessions are arranged directly with you by WhatsApp or email.
2. How we use it
- To create and run your account and give you access to the tracker.
- To send the emails you asked for: a welcome message, DXY bias updates before and after major economic releases, and invitations to sessions we run.
- To answer your questions and arrange bookings.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse, and to meet legal obligations.
We rely on your consent for marketing emails, and you can withdraw it at any time. For running your account, keeping the site secure and measuring how it is used, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating the site, and on the need to provide the service you asked for.
3. Our emails
Every update email has an unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe we stop sending them and keep a minimal record of that choice so we do not email you again. We may still send you messages that are necessary for your account, such as a password reset.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of service providers who process it on our behalf:
- Supabase for our database and sign-in.
- Resend to deliver our emails.
- Google for Google sign-in and Google Analytics.
- Tencent EdgeOne to host and deliver the website.
These providers may handle information in countries outside Ghana. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.
5. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Account details are kept while your account is active. Email list details are kept until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only a minimal record of that choice. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
6. Your rights
Under Ghana’s Data Protection Act you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and object to our using it for marketing. To do any of these, email thehotspotgh@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to Ghana’s Data Protection Commission.
7. Security
We protect the site with encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limit who can access personal data. No online service is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
8. Children
This site is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top, and tell you by email if the change is significant.
